A Winnipeg man has pleaded guilty to unlawfully importing or selling fertilizers that require registration.

Ronald Becker was fined $7,500 under the Fertilizers Act on Wednesday.

The Canadian Border Services Agency received a tip in February 2008 from the Canadian Food Inspection Agency that Ronald G. Becker Sales Ltd. was importing and selling fertilizer that had not been approved by the CFIA. A search warrant found that Becker had imported approximately 130,703 kg of fertilizer that required registration.
