City Trashing Old Recycling, Garbage Collection as Automated Carts Roll Out

September 24, 2012 12:32 PM | News

It’s the last week for manual recycling and garbage collection, as the City of Winnipeg plans to extend its new automated recycling and garbage carts city-wide on October 1.

Some areas of the city, and about 24,000 residential properties, have already been on the new system since August 1.

The new 240-litre grey garbage and recycling carts will be dropped off last to residents in the south end of the city, including in Waverley West, by Sunday, September 30.

Once the new system goes into place, the five-day collection calendar will be replaced with an assigned collection day. To help make it easier, the city has also come out with a “MyWaste” mobile app. More information on the new schedules can also be found at Winnipeg.ca/waterandwaste.
