Two players on the Winnipeg Blues hockey roster have caught the attention of NHL Central Scouting.

The MJHL said on Monday that forward Kurt Keats, 18, and defenceman Paul Stoykewych, 18, have been ranked as a B skater and C skater, respectively.

“These preliminary rankings demonstrate the high calibre of player within our league,” MJHL commissioner Kim Davis said. “This is exciting news for the players, their families, the Blues and the fans of the MJHL.”

Stoykewych’s brother, Peter, is a former member of the Winnipeg Blues who was selected in the 2010 NHL draft. Stoykewych, now 20, was selected in the seventh round (199 overall) by the then-Atlanta Thrashers, now the Winnipeg Jets.
