Winnipeg Harvest will be at the receiving end of a campaign next month to crush hunger.

The Maple Leaf Monster Jam Tour’s “Crush Hunger — A Monster Jam Canada Food Drive” is touring four Canadian cities to raise donations for local food banks.

On Wednesday, October 3, the public is encouraged to visit Polo Park Shopping Centre between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. to make a non-perishable food donation. The first 200 people who donate five food items will receive one free voucher to the 2013 Maple Leaf Monster Jam show at MTS Centre on February 23 and 24, 2013. Discount coupons will be available on-site for all who attend and do not receive a free ticket voucher.

In each participating city, Monster Jam drivers will greet fans, sign autographs and collect food donations, plus there will be tattoo stations and crush-car decorating. In Winnipeg, fans will have an opportunity to meet and take photos with Maximum Destruction driver Kreg Christensen.

Other cities taking part include Hamilton, London and Toronto, Ontario.

Tickets for Monster Jam go on sale October 3 through Ticketmater for $21.50 and $67.25.
