Winnipeg Goldeyes fans packed Shaw Park this season to lead the American Association in attendance.
The baseball club revealed Wednesday that the average fan turnout per game was 5,705. Winnipeg finished second overall in average attendance amongst the 49 independent professional baseball teams in 2012.
“Once again we continue to be supported by the best fans in minor league baseball,” Goldeyes GM Andrew Collier said in a release. “The American Association has 12 other strong franchises. To lead the league in attendance again is an accomplishment everyone in Winnipeg can celebrate.”
The Goldeyes drew 285,620 fans for 50 home games, marking the third straight season the team has increased its total attendance, and the highest total attendance since the 2007 season.
