Fire Engine Pull Launching Charitable Campaign

City of Winnipeg staff will pull a fire engine today as part of a 2012 ERCF (Employees’ and Retirees’ Charitable Fund Campaign kick off for the United Way.

From noon to 1 p.m., civic officials and staff will use their muscles to move a fire engine on William Avenue between Main Street and King Street.

The team with the fastest time at the end of the event will be awarded the 2012 City of Winnipeg ERCF Fire Engine Pull trophy.

Each fire engine, weighing approximately 42,000 lbs, will be pulled by teams of 12 people. Last year’s campaign raise $466,000 for the United Way and other local charities.
