Students Challenged with Distractions Behind the Wheel

October 2, 2012 7:21 AM | News

Students will be faced with the challenge of driving while distracted today during a controlled exercise put on by CAA Manitoba.

The third annual Distracted Driving 101 challenge will teach 25 students from Sturgeon Heights Collegiate the impact of cell phone use. Students will get behind the wheel of go-karts at Thunder Rapids Fun Park just west of Winnipeg.

Students will be challenged to place a hands-free phone call and have to answer simple questions while navigating an obstacle-filled go-kart course.

The annual challenge is an awareness event and will also be attended by Sergeant Stephanie Sorensen of the RCMP Traffic Division.
