A two-vehicle crash on the South Perimeter Highway at Brady Road sent one man to hospital on Wednesday afternoon.
The crash happened shortly after 2 p.m. involving a silver Ford Focus sedan and a garbage truck.
RCMP say the westbound truck attempted to turn southbound on Brady Road when it collided with the eastbound Focus.
It took emergency crews quite awhile to free the driver of the Focus from the wreckage before he was loaded on to a stretcher. The STARS air ambulance responded to the scene, but wasn’t needed. The man was conscious and talking to paramedics before being rushed to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the garbage truck wasn’t injured, but has been charged with proceeding before being safe to do so and suspended driving.
The eastbound lanes of the Perimeter were closed to traffic, while one westbound lane remained open. Vehicles used a detour on a gravel service road adjacent to the Perimeter to get by the crash scene.
