The University of Manitoba Bison women’s hockey team opens up their regular 2012-13 season at home tonight.
The Bisons are coming off a confidence-boosting 8-1 record in pre-season action as they host the Alberta Pandas for two consecutive nights at the Max Bell Arena.
Forward Amy Lee has been named captain for the first time as a Bison, while forwards Nellie Minshull, Kristin Cockerill and defenceman Caitlin MacDonald have the ‘A’ for the first time, while Minshull is a second-time alternate captain.
“This is a very mature mix of captains who are good decision makers,” said ninth-year head coach Jon Rempel.
“They all are very team orientated, not selfish and inclusive group. They are some of the best players on the ice and brings leadership off the ice.”
