Volunteers are needed to help sort food donations at Winnipeg Harvest on Saturday.
The 26th Share Your Thanks Food Drive will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 1085 Winnipeg Avenue and is the food bank’s largest food drive of the year.
“We are currently feeding more than 54,000 Winnipeggers and an additional 10,000 in rural Manitoba. This is a 19% increase from the same period last year,” said Chris Albi, communications coordinator for Winnipeg Harvest.
“During the Thanksgiving season Winnipeg Harvest appeals to the public to respond to the ever increasing need to share food within our community.”
The food drive replenishes Harvest’s shelves from the dip in donations during summertime and helps for the upcoming holidays.
