The University of Manitoba Bison men’s golf team picked up their first team title of the season over the long weekend.
The Bisons captured the 2012 Prairie University Golf Championships held at the Willows Golf and Country Club in Saskatoon. The two-day tournament saw Manitoba finish with a 587 (301-286) score and defeated four other Canada West schools.
Manitoba’s win automatically qualifies them for the 2013 Canadian University/College Championship, which will be held in eastern Canada.
“It was a fantastic way to cap off an amazing season,” said Bisons head coach Garth Goodbrandson. “After a disappointing finish to day one, which left us in third place, the boys showed their composure and confidence and came back with an outstanding team score of two under par for round two.
