‘Golden Carrot Awards’ Recognizing Local Food Producers

By Sarah Klein

Local food producers will be celebrated Friday at the Manitoba legislature as the 2012 Golden Carrot Awards are handed out.

Food Matters Manitoba has nominated “food champions” in seven categories, including urban, rural, northern, education, business, media and youth categories.

The Golden Carrot Awards are held annually in conjunction with World Food Day, an international event to draw attention to food issues across the globe.

Members of the public are invited and are requested to RSVP to Julie Rempel at (204) 943-0822.

The awards will be handed out between 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.
