A 25-year-old man from Minitonas has been charged following a street racing-related crash in September that killed a 26-year-old man.
An RCMP investigation has revealed two vehicles were racing in Swan River in the early hours of September 30.
One of the vehicles lost control and struck a metal light standard at the corner of Main Street and Highway 83.
The 28-year-old driver — who wasn’t wearing a seat belt at the time — was transported to a Winnipeg hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on October 3.
The driver of the second vehicle, Dallas Joseph Genaille, has been charged. He was released from custody and will appear in Swan River court on November 21.
Genaille’s vehicle wasn’t damaged in the crash.
