MTS has partnered with EnStream LP to bring secure mobile payment technology to Manitoba by 2013.
The telecommunications company announced Monday that the technology will allow its customers to pay for goods and services at participating retailers using certain smartphones and mobile devices.
EnStream will provide participating banks and other financial institutions the means to facilitate transactions for MTS customers. Payments will be facilitated via near field communication (NFC) technology — currently only available on a small number of smartphones, excluding the iPhone 5.
