The University of Manitoba women’s soccer team is off to the playoffs for the first time since 2008.
The Bisons wrapped up the 2012 Canada West regular season by earning a 1-1 tie at Mount Royal on Saturday, and a 3-0 loss to Alberta on Sunday.
“Our first goal was achieved by making the playoffs,” said head coach Hadyn Sloane-Seale. “We are happy and I said to the players to applaud their effort and now we have to get ready and prepare hard for a difficult team in Trinity.”
The Bisons will now face the number one seed Trinity Western Spartans (11-1-0) on Friday, October 26 at 7 p.m. CT. The game will be broadcast live at CanadaWest.TV.
The Bisons football team has also earned a playoff spot after their 37-31 win over UBC at University Stadium on Saturday. It’s the first time the Herd has advanced to the playoffs since 2007 — the year they won the Vanier Cup.
