Citizens can now report non-violent crime through the Winnipeg Police Service website.
A new citizen online reporting system launched Wednesday, giving the public the ability to report anything from damage to property and a vehicle, to theft and loss of property.
“There are immediate benefits as citizens can avoid unnecessary travel and wait times and can file a report at any time using an Internet connection at home, at the office, or through a personal electronic device,” the police service said in a statement.
Online reporting will not replace traditional reporting, such as over the phone or in-person, but provides a new alternative for the public.
The system can be accessed through Winnipeg.ca/police.
