The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority has launched a new campaign to encourage youth to use condoms and prevent STIs.
The “hard-hitting” GetSomeCondoms campaign shows youth unexpectedly being hit with bouncy balls, each representing a different STI.
“Our new campaign tells youth that because many STIs often have mild or no symptoms, you can’t tell who has one and you can’t predict when you might get one,” said Dr. Pierre Plourde, the WRHA’s medical officer of health. “But for those who choose to be sexually active, you CAN help protect yourself by using condoms.”
The campaign uses humour to get the message across through its website and encourages youth to ignite a conversation about safer sex with their family and friends.
