Yvette Reimer of Grunthal, Manitoba is the province’s newest smiling millionaire.

The mother of three adult children claimed her giant cheque Tuesday afternoon in Winnipeg alongside her husband, Isaac.
Reimer won the October 19 Lotto Max $1-million Maxmillions draw after purchasing the ticket at her local Petro Canada.
“The girl at the counter checked my ticket and all of a sudden, it was like she was frozen,” Reimer said. “She said, ‘This ticket is a winner and I think it’s a big one. I have to phone my boss.’”
“He said to me (the store’s manager), ‘Yvette, you won a million bucks!’ I spoke to the lottery people who were on the phone and then I went home. As soon as I left the store I started to cry, so when I got home to tell my husband I had tears on my face and told him to sit down. Right away he said, ‘What’s wrong? Who died?’” Reimer laughed.
The couple plans to continue to live in Grunthal and maintain their modest lifestyle. Besides paying off some debt, going on vacation — and perhaps buying a Dodge Charger — the Reimers don’t have any big plans for their winnings.
