The local winner of this summer’s Winnipeg BBQ and Blues Festival has won for his grilling skills in Tennessee this past weekend.
John Lattuca, known as the “Weekend Warrior” by his team, won the brisket category at the Jack Daniel’s World Invitational Barbeque Championship in Lynchburg.
“John’s win places him among a small group of international teams able to triumph over the Americans,” said Perry Hopkins, barbeque coordinator for the Winnipeg BBQ and Blues Festival. “Brisket is the most challenging meat to prepare well, and this win puts John firmly in place amongst the world’s top competitors.”
Ticket information for the 2013 BBQ and Blues Festival at Red River Exhibition Park, held August 16-18, will be released in the new year.
