Bonnycastle School Adding New Classrooms, More Child Care Spaces

November 6, 2012 1:36 PM | News

Bonnycastle School in south Winnipeg will see the addition of eight new classrooms and 74 child care spaces by next year.

The Manitoba government is funding the upgrades, which will account for a 10,500-square-foot expansion.

“We’re focused on reducing class sizes in the early years because we know that small classes mean our kids can get more of the attention they need,” Premier Greg Selinger said. “For families in the area, these improvements will help give their kids a better start in life.”

Students in kindergarten to Grade 6 attend Bonnycastle School as well as students in a French immersion program in kindergarten to Grade 3.

Cairns Children’s Centre, located within the school, will be renovated to add 6,100 square feet of space to accomodate the new child care spaces.

Pembina Trails School Division will work with a consultant to have the work completed by spring/summer 2014.
