A 32-year-old man was sent to hospital Wednesday afternoon after a snowmobile accident on the Perimeter Highway.

The crash happened at about 3:15 p.m. south of Wilkes Avenue. RCMP say the snowmobile hit a culvert, ejecting both the driver and passenger. The snowmobile was travelling northbound in the ditch at the time on the east side of the Perimeter.

The injured man was conveyed to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Both riders were wearing helmets and alcohol is not a contributing factor. One helmet has extensive damage and is attributed to have prevented potential serious head injuries, according to RCMP.
