This year’s Winnipeg Folk Festival fundraising event, Folk Festival in the City, brought in $49,000 for the organization’s education and outreach programs.

The Crooked Brothers, Imaginary Cities, Greg MacPherson and Sarah Harmer all performed during the gala evening on November 8, held at The Fort Garry Hotel. A charity auction raised more than $5,000 and attracted about 400 people.

Harmer was presented with the Winnipeg Folk Festival 2012 Artistic Achievement Award for her significant contributions to both Canadian folk music and environmental and civil liberties issues.

Next year’s Folk Festival is July 10-14, 2013.
