Four Winnipeggers have been honoured by Food Banks Canada for community effort in helping ensure the less fortunate receive food.
Thirty-three recipients were chosen by the organization to receive the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medals. The medals are bestowed in recognition of the Queen’s 60th anniversary of her accession to the throne.
Receiving the honours are Winnipeg Blue Bombers president and CEO Garth Buchko, Peak of the Market’s Larry McIntosh, Safeway Canada’s John Graham and longtime Winnipeg Harvest volunteer Ann Ledwich. All four were honoured for their commitment to Winnipeg Harvest.
“We are extremely pleased to have this opportunity to recognize and honour the heart and soul of the food bank community,” said Robin Garret, chair of Food Banks Canada. “These are truly distinguished men and women and they deserve to be recognized by their peers.”
