A former police officer with the Ste. Anne Police Department has resigned after being charged with two counts of careless use of a weapon.
RCMP say Randy Chudyk, a former sergeant, pointed and deployed a Taser.
Manitoba’s Director of Policing requested that the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) conduct an independent investigation into the actions of Chudyk back in January.
The investigation’s findings were then sent to independent crown counsel in Manitoba for review, which recommended the officer be criminally charged.
Chudyk was formally charged on November 21 and resigned from the force. He will appear in court on January 10, 2013 in Steinbach.
