Police Go Shopping with Kids in Annual ‘Cop Shop’

November 28, 2012 8:40 AM | News

Winnipeg police officers will walk a different kind of beat today — the floor of St. Vital Shopping Centre.

The sixth annual Winnipeg Cop Shop will see officers paired with children from school divisions across the city. The event includes transportation for the children to the mall, provides food and includes the main event, a shopping spree for any of the mall’s stores with a few hundred dollars in spending money.

Children taking part were selected based on their community volunteer efforts, academic achievements and level of need.

Students will begin arriving at the mall at 9:30 a.m.
