Siloam Mission has a new set of wheels.
The Winnipeg homeless shelter was given a brand new cargo van on Wednesday to help it get donated food from places like Winnipeg Harvest and local grocers to those in need.
The shelter’s 2002 Ford was in need of extensive repairs, and purchasing a new van wasn’t in the budget.
Luckily, Vickar Auto Group stepped in and was able to provide Siloam with a brand new Nissan. The vehicle was presented to shelter officials as a philanthropic gesture. The dealership’s employees are also big supporters of the shelter, volunteering their time to help out whenever they can.
“It is so great when a local business can step up to the needs of the community,” said Floyd Perras, Siloam Mission’s executive director. “We are proud to be associated with the Vickar Auto Group.”
