A Steinbach auto dealership is doing its part to help families in need this holiday season.

Fairway Ford is hoping to fill up two F-150 trucks with new and gently used items for donation. The event started on November 23 and runs until December 14.

“Fairway Ford is always looking for opportunities to give back to the community—especially around the holiday season,” said Peter Loewen, general sales manager of Fairway Ford. “We’re pleased with the positive response from the community and the generous donations filling up the trucks.”

The donations will be packaged into gift baskets once the trucks are full. Steinbach Community Outreach will host a special Winter Warmth 2012 shopping event on December 21 for those who don’t have a means of purchasing gifts themselves. About 125 people are expected to drop by.

Items that the charity is looking to have donated include:

  • Board games and card games
  • Hot chocolates, teas or coffees
  • Cookies and baked goods
  • Mugs or serving dishes
  • Soaps, lotions or perfumes
  • Candles or scented oils
  • Gift cards
  • Candy or nuts

Donations can be dropped off until December 14 at either of two locations in Steinbach: Fairway Ford (236 Main Street) or Clearspring Centre mall (178 PTH 12 North).
