RCMP are trying to piece together what happened when a marked Dakota Ojibway Police Service vehicle struck a slow moving CN train last weekend.

Police say the Ford F-250 police truck was transporting a passenger on December 2 shortly before noon along Highway 21 south at the junction of Highway 24.

The truck suffered extensive front end damage as a result of the collision.

Both the officer and 22-year-old male prisoner were taken to the local area hospital with minor injuries.

Fog and icy road conditions were reported at the time.
