The Downtown Winnipeg BIZ wants to give someone the chance at being “the hand” in the MTS TV fireplace.

Similar to the Shaw fireplace, the MTS version has been un-tended until this point and runs during the holiday season.

A contest will officially launch on Monday, December 10 to give someone the unique opportunity of having their hand place another log on the fire.

To win, the public will have to find one of five fireplaces in storefronts downtown and enter the codeword they see online at DowntownPeggy.com. For an extra chance to win, participants are encouraged to snap a photo of themselves in front of the fireplaces they find, and share with Downtown Peggy on Twitter or Facebook.

“The BIZ’s yule log contest is part of a whole smorgasbord of festive events and initiatives taking place downtown during the holidays,” said Stefano Grande, executive director of the Downtown BIZ. “From horse-drawn sleigh rides, roaming carolers, and a plethora of downtown boutiques and restaurant options – downtown Winnipeg presents the perfect atmosphere for a unique shopping experience during the holidays.”
