A group of local musicians are holding a benefit concert in support of the United Way Winnipeg on Thursday, December 13.

“The holiday season is a time of giving, but we often focus our energy on those closest to us,” said James Struthers, one of the musicians performing. “I wanted to do something that would bring the community together, and encourage people to think outside the box when it comes to giving.”

#GiveYourGifts is being dubbed an “awareness raiser” and will be a celebration of music and community participation.

Presented by MTS, The Treble and iTunes sensation Take Me to the Pilot, whose song Green Eyes is featured in United Way of Winnipeg’s campaign video, signed up immediately. Twelve-year-old prodigy Dane Bjornson is also scheduled to perform.

The concert will begin at 7 p.m. at the Garrick Centre. Doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets are $15 in advance at Music Trader, the United Way and EventBrite.ca, or $20 at the door.
