Harlem Globetrotters to Visit Winnipeg Elementary School

December 13, 2012 6:58 AM | Sports

Students at Voyageur Elementary School will be treated with a visit by players on the Harlem Globetrotters basketball team today.

The athletes are making the rounds as part of the “ABC’s of Bullying Prevention,” a community outreach program they designed in coordination with the National Campaign to Stop Violence. The program targets 6-12 year-old students and involves Globetrotter players discussing with the children how action, bravery and compassion can be used to reduce and stop bullying.

The important message of bullying and violence prevention is conveyed with student participation — and the team’s signature ball handling skills and humour — for a well-balanced program that informs and entertains.

The Globetrotters will play at Winnipeg’s MTS Centre on Thursday, January 5 at 2 p.m.
