Student-athletes of the Manitoba Bisons are showing their support this week by volunteering at Siloam Mission.
For the eighth year in a row, the University of Manitoba students will be helping out by serving breakfast and lunch until Friday. The Bisons have been assisting at the homeless shelter since Monday.
“Former Bison women’s hockey player Chantal DeSpiegelaere coordinated the Bison student-athlete volunteers for the last three years and I am honoured to be able to give back and continue our yearly involvement,” said fourth-year women’s hockey player Kristin Cockerill. “It is a small gesture but important to have Bison student-athletes assist in the community and provide time for Siloam Mission to make a difference in the lives of people.”
Siloam Mission, located at 300 Princess Street, serves more than 6,000 meals per week.
