Police Warn of Holiday Season Thefts from Vehicles

December 14, 2012 11:42 AM | News

Winnipeg police are providing holiday season safety tips to the public in an effort to protect them from becoming a victim of a Christmas Scrooge.

Police says thefts from vehicles continue to be a concern city-wide at this time of year. Vehicle owners are reminded to keep purchases out of sight and secure them either in the truck, or in an area not visible from outside the vehicle.

GPS devices and personal electronics left in plain view are other items commonly prompting break-ins to vehicles.

Police also suggest not to leave laptops or other valuables in your vehicle, and to park in well-lit areas and lock your vehicle at all times.
