Winter enthusiasts will appreciate that the ski trails at Assiniboine Park have been freshly groomed.
Staff were out on Thursday prepping the trails after a layer of snow, and then again on Friday touching up some other areas.
The trails take skiers past the Lyric Theatre and gardens, beyond the Duck Pond shelter and back to The Park Café. Other inner trails weave in and out of the park to make for a longer trip along Roblin and Corydon Boulevards (download trail map).
“During the winter, the trails are typically groomed twice a week as weather permits. We do not groom the trails if it is snowing and will commence grooming when the snowfall stops,” according to the Assiniboine Park website.
Trails are open daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
The park’s toboggan hill is also operational, which is located on the north side of the Nature Playground. However, skaters will have to wait a little longer before the Duck Pond is hard enough to glide on. Last year, staff opened the pond on December 30.
