City to Widen Molson Street to Ease Traffic Flow

The City of Winnipeg will twin Molson Street to address traffic concerns in the East Kildonan area.

The $7.4 million project includes the widening of Molson Street from Munroe Avenue to a point north of the current Concordia intersection and is intended to relieve congestion, particularly at the intersection of Molson Street and Concordia Avenue.

“Presently, there are two lanes available for east-west traffic on Concordia Avenue, while Molson Street is a single lane in each direction,” said Elmwood Councillor Thomas Steen. “The additional lane will greatly increase capacity and improve safety for both motorists and pedestrians.”

A preliminary engineering study will determine the exact location of the north limit.
