The Assiniboine Park Conservancy has chosen Smith Carter Architects & Engineers and Kuwabara Payne McKenna Blumberg Architects to complete its new Conservatory.
The $30-$50 million project is part of the park’s $200 million Imagine a Place redevelopment plan.
“This is going to be a signature building in Assiniboine Park for decades to come,” said Don Peterkin, chief operations officer for the Assiniboine Park Conservancy. “We received 16 submissions and Smith Carter and KPMB came through with a proposal that combines international experience and the necessary local expertise to make the new Conservatory as impressive as we and the community expect it to be.”
Smith Carter Architects & Engineers is based in Winnipeg, while Kuwabara Payne McKenna Blumberg is located in Toronto.
Local landscape architect Hilderman Thomas Frank Cram has also been chosen to work on the project.
