Local celebrities will try their hand at building gingerbread dog houses today in support of a Manitoba pet welfare organization.
The contest will be held at The Forks in the Tower Atrium over the lunch hour. Local media personalities will be constructing their masterpieces to help out Petsecure, a Winnipeg-based pet health insurance company.
Petsecure will donate $1,000 to the organization chosen by the winner, who will also receive bragging rights for the year.
“It’s sad to think of any pet without a home during the holiday season, and the only thing that makes it better is knowing what an excellent job the animal welfare organizations in our province do,” said Bill Skubovius, vice-president of business development at Petsecure. “We’re happy to use our doghouse decorating contest as a way to give a boost to one lucky organization that’s providing a loving, temporary home for someone’s future pet.”
Dog house builders include representation from Global Winnipeg, Citytv’s “Breakfast Television,” 99.1 Fresh FM, QX104, CHVN, Energy 106, 99.9 BOB FM and 92 CITI FM, as well as D’Arcy’s A.R.C., the Winnipeg Humane Society and Winnipeg recording artist Sierra Noble.
