Winter fun will surely be at the top of the list for many Winnipeg children over the Christmas break, and the City of Winnipeg is reminding citizens of the many outdoor activities they can enjoy during that time.

From tobogganing and skating to cross-country skiing, there will be something for everyone at civic facilities and parks over the holidays.

Tobogganing is offered at Kildonan Park, Waterfront Drive, Bunn’s Creek Park, St. Vital Park, Crescent Drive Park and Fraser’s Grove Park, with all runs open to the public.

Those wanting to strap on their ice skates can do so at Peguis Pavilion in Kildonan Park next to the toboggan slides. Benches and picnic tables will be located around the rink including outdoor portable toilets in front of the Pavilion in the parking lot. There is no change facility open at Kildonan Park this year.

Warm up shelters are open at both St. Vital Park and Harbour View Recreation Complex except Christmas day. There are over 40 pleasure skating rinks in neighbourhood parks.

Cross-country skiing trails are open early this year, including at Kildonan Park, Harbour View, St. Vital Park, La Barriere Park, and Living Prairie Museum.
