The Assiniboine Park Conservancy opened the Duck Pond to skaters on Friday.
Just in time for the holidays — and the first day of winter — the park has also opened the toboggan fun located just south of the skating rink. Visitors can warm up by the fireplace inside the Qualico Family Centre located on the edge of the Duck Pond, and the Park Café will be offering breakfast and lunch options for those wishing to grab a quick bite after their outdoor fun.
The Family Centre will be open daily from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., excluding December 25.
The rink is opening about a week earlier than last year due to colder temperatures.
