Local celebrities honed their gingerbread house decorating skills on Thursday in a fun competition at The Forks.

Petsecure hosted the dog-themed contest at The Forks over the lunch hour. About a dozen teams competed, creating edible masterpieces which were judged by the Manitoba pet welfare organization.

The winner received $1,000 from Petsecure to donate to the organization of their choice.

“We’re happy to use our doghouse decorating contest as a way to give a boost to one lucky organization that’s providing a loving, temporary home for someone’s future pet,” said Bill Skubovius, vice-president of business development at Petsecure.

The Winnipeg Humane Society won top prize with their Snoopy house. Petsecure will donate $1,000 to the WHS as a prize.

Petsecure also donated $100 to every other pet welfare organization that was played for at the event.
