The Winnipeg Blue Bombers tied up loose ends on Friday by re-signing three players about to become free agents in February.
The Bombers announced the return of import quarterback Justin Goltz, import running back Chris Garrett and non-import running back Carl Volny for the 2013 season.
“We are very happy to have Justin, Chris and Carl locked up as we feel all three of them have bright futures ahead of them in this league,” Blue Bombers GM and vice-president Joe Mack said in a release. “Justin has been a part of our organization for the better part of three seasons and has progressed tremendously over that time. We look forward to having him compete for a higher spot on our depth chart next season. Chris was having a great training camp and preseason last year before suffering a devastating injury that kept him out for the entire season and we feel he has fully recovered and will look to have him return to the form he showed in 2011 when he was a key part of our offence. Carl is a quality non-import player who has contributed to our team both on offence and on special teams.”
On the administrative side of the team, the Blue Bombers are preparing to move themselves over to Investors Group Field after the holidays.
