‘Idle No More’ Rally to Block Airport Traffic

December 21, 2012 7:21 AM | News

Aboriginal leaders will hold a rally this morning at Winnipeg’s James Richardson International Airport.

Organized by Manitoba Keewatinowi Okimakanak Inc. (MKO), the rally will include Norway House Cree Nation Chief Ron Evans and Cross Lake First Nation Chief Garrison Settee, with representation from the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs and Southern Chiefs Organization.

The rally, being held from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., will then depart for the Manitoba legislature, where participants will join the Idle No More rally at noon.

The grassroots campaign, which has been picking up steam through social media, is over the omnibus budget bill C-45 and First Nation treaty rights.
