If outdoor winter activities aren’t your thing over the holidays, maybe basketball is more your game.

The University of Winnipeg will host the 46th Annual Wesmen Classic next week at the Duckworth Centre.

Draws will begin on December 27, wrapping up with the championship final on Sunday, December 30.

The university draw consists of the hometown Winnipeg Wesmen and teams from Keyano College, Mount Royal, Lakehead, UNBC, Brandon and a pair of American schools, Mayville State and Dickinson State.

The high school draw is made up of eight of the top high school boy’s teams in Winnipeg. The defending Provincial and Wesmen Classic Champions, the Garden City Fighting Gophers, will be joined by Oak Park, Glenlawn, Sturgeon Heights, Kildonan East, Kelvin, St. Paul’s and John Taylor.

The Adidas Junior Varsity Final will take place on Thursday, December 27 at 7:30 p.m. The game will feature the Glenlawn Lions and the Kildonan East Reivers.

A pair of women’s exhibition basketball games have also been added this year between the Wesmen and Dickinson State University. Games will take place December 28 and 29 at 10 a.m.

Wesmen Classic tournament passes are available for $20. Passes can be purchased online or at the Duckworth Centre customer service desk.
