Manitoba Legislative Building
Supporters of the Make Poverty History group will make a series of special deliveries to the Manitoba legislature beginning Christmas Day.
From December 25 to January 5, the group will drop off shoes for Premier Greg Selinger and Entrepreneurship, Training and Trade Minister Peter Bjornson.
The group’s message is to dramatize their calls on the provincial government to raise the rental allowance for those on employment and income assistance.
Each day at noon the number of shoes will be incrementally increased — one pair on the first day, two pairs on the second, three pairs on the third, etc.
A rally will be held January 4 at the legislature at noon to reiterate the issue.
