An agitated man is facing a slew of charges after allegedly becoming violent and causing a ruckus at the Russell Health Centre on New Year’s Day.
RCMP say the 43-year-old Waywayseecappo man sought medical attention from a snowmobile crash earlier in the day when he became irate and assaulted hospital staff who were treating him.
Two nurses and a doctor were assaulted before the man left the room, where he then assaulted a young girl and chased another child in the hospital. The man continued to utter threats at other patients, some of whom were elderly.
Police used a Taser to control the suspect and take him into custody where he remains.
It’s believed substance abuse was a contributing factor in the man’s aggressive behaviour.
UPDATE: Friday, January 4 — Craig Allen Huntinghawk, 43, of Waywayseecappo has been charged with aggravated assault, two counts of assault, assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, mischief, failure to comply with recognizance, causing a disturbance and uttering threats. He remains in custody and will appear in Brandon court on January 17.
