Children who use the Oxford Heights Community Centre will benefit from playground upgrades announced Thursday by the federal government.
Elmwood-Transcona MP Lawrence Toet announced $63,000 in upgrades to the play structure, including the removal of old play equipment, installing a new play structure and benches, construction of a limestone path, and new landscaping. The revitalized playground is also expected to improve the centre’s programming.
It’s the second local funding commitment by the feds of the day, who hours earlier invested $100,000 in the Transcona Nationals Football Club.
The funding will go to the Transcona Playground Renewal Association from the government’s Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund (CIIF).
