Kirby and Marie Fontaine have ended their generous spending spree with a donation of $16,000 to The Dream Factory.
The Sagkeeng First Nation couple, who won $50 million in a Lotto Max jackpot in 2009, made the donation to the Winnipeg children’s charity on New Year’s Eve.
“We were totally thrilled to receive the phone call on New Year’s Eve from Kirby and Marie,” said Grace Thomson, executive director of The Dream Factory in a release.
“It is absolutely heartwarming to be the recipient of such generosity. I want to thank Kirby and Marie and all of our supporters for a tremendous year, which will allow us to continue to make dreams come true for some very brave and deserving kids.”
The Fontaines made similar donations to other local charities in December, including the Christmas Cheer Board, Siloam Mission, Rossbrook House and Winnipeg Harvest.
