Winnipeg Police CrestWinnipeg police have made arrests in connection to a Remembrance Day poppy box being stolen nearly two months ago.

A man and a woman walked into a gas bar in the 1100 block of St. Mary’s Road on November 7, 2012 and allegedly made off with an undisclosed amount of money contained inside the box. The female suspect distracted the store clerk, while police say the male took the cash.

The suspects were identified through video surveillance, but fled Winnipeg before being located.

On Thursday, police arrested Dallas Ian Jensen, 23, and Averi Anne Cairns, 21. Both have been charged with theft under $5,000 and were released on a promise to appear.
