The executive director of the Winnipeg Arts Council will hold the position for another five years.
Carol A. Phillips will retain the reins of the council, which provides funding, support, and fosters development of the arts throughout Winnipeg.
Phillips was the director of the Plug In Institute of Contemporary Art from 2001-2006 before joining the Arts Council. From 1992 to 2000 she was vice-president and director of the Banff Centre for the Arts.
“In the short space of six years, her leadership, vision, enthusiasm and dedication have had a significant impact on Winnipeg’s cultural life,” said Laird Rankin, chair of the Arts council board. “To say that the council is pleased with her decision to stay for another five years is an understatement.”
