RCMP say a 50-year-old man wasn’t injured when his pickup truck fell through the ice on the Red River near Selkirk on Wednesday.

The unfortunate incident happened at about 5:30 p.m. The driver — from the RM of Brokenhead — was in his 2006 Dodge pickup at the time, but was able to escape before the vehicle became submerged. No one else was inside the truck.

Police are reminding the public that ice conditions can change from area to area, and to be aware of hazards.

In December, another vehicle plunged into the Red River nearby at the Lockport Dam.
